What is SSL?

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a security protocol created by Netscape that has become the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and the computer communicating with it referred to as the browser.
Security and trust are essential when you're operating an online business. In times of increased phishing attacks and identity theft, your customers rely on you to secure sensitive information sent over the Internet with the strongest encryption level available, provided by the most credible security providers.

The protocol uses a third party, a Certificate Authority (CA), to identify one end or both ends of the transactions.

SSL technology is embedded in all popular browsers and is used by millions of
e-Business providers to protect their customers, ensuring their online transactions and exchanged sensitive information remaining confidential.

It's easy to tell when a server is using SSL security because the address in the URL window of your browser will start with https. The "s" indicates a secure connection.
